LONDON PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Artist
Eight artists. Eight pieces of orchestral music. Creativity driven by the power of listening.
The fermata holds the void of space. And clefs trace the range of mountains. Perhaps, to listen is an act of active following, of going along, to be set on a path of discovery. An absolute necessity, for the living. The works themselves became a kind of terrain to move through: Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, Beethoven's Fourth Symphony, Mahler's First, Saint-Saëns' Poco Adagio. Across all of them ran the same test: not only was I encountering music I had never heard before, but I was finding a way to let it lead, to trust its architecture over my own. What emerged on the page wasn't illustration of the music; it was residue of having been moved by it. My approach began with ink, the only medium that felt true to that pursuit, the only one that could hold the deep state of flow and let me be instinctive with the visions as they emerged. The final selected piece is based on Saint Saens's Organ Symphony.
